Wine Institute
Wine Institute, based in San Francisco, is the public policy
advocacy association of California wineries. The organization brings together
the resources of 624 wineries and affiliated businesses to support legislative
and regulatory advocacy, international market development, media relations,
scientific research, and education programs that benefit the entire California
wine industry.
Wine Institute pursues numerous programs and community alliances and promotes
sustainable business practices from the ground to the bottle. The intention
is to reframe the entire social debate on wine in America by educating
consumers and decision makers about wine's legitimate place in a healthy
lifestyle. The mission of the Wine Institute is to initiate and advocate
state, federal and international public policy to enhance the environment
for the responsible consumption and enjoyment of wine.

WineAmerica
The Mission of WineAmerica is to enhance the public perception and business
environment of American wine-growing through marketing, public information
and grassroots government representation initiatives. With over 600 members
from 43 states AVA has the largest and most diverse winery membership
of any trade association and is the only winery trade association with
a national membership. This provides formidable grass-roots lobbying strength
which is used assiduously to the benefit of the entire wine industry.
AVA's primary mission is to improve the business environment for wineries
through government relations. However, there is much more to AVA than
effective representation in Washington, D.C. AVA serves its member wineries
in many areas. AVA originated important programs like the Wine Market
Council, to promote wine consumption nationally, the State Wine Issues
Network, to provide linkage and communication for legislative/regulatory
issues affecting wineries at the state level, the American Viticulture
and Enology Research Network, to establish national research priorities,
coordinate regional and national research efforts, expand funding sources,
and disseminate research priorities. AVA is also the administrative headquarters
for the American Wine Alliance for Research and Education, which disseminates
accurate and balanced information about the health effects of moderate
alcohol consumption to physicians and other health professionals. AVA
will continue to advance American wineries by responding to their needs
with creative initiatives.

The California Association of Winegrape Growers
The California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) was
founded in 1974 to represent the interests and concerns of wine and concentrate
grape growers. CAWG protects the interests of winegrape growers, fights
for their needs and provides them with the information and tools they
need to remain competitive, well-informed and profitable. The organization
maintains several objectives including representing growers before legislative
bodies, government agencies and the news media, providing an open forum
to exchange ideas and resolving issues related to growing and marketing.
In addition, CAWG encourages cooperative efforts among grape growers,
supports the continued production of quality winegrapes, stimulates consumption
of grapes for wine and other grape-based products and collects and disseminates
information on production and marketing to members.
